We just finished up making our way through all the submissions and it was a smorgasbord of genres and styles. Our readers found some gems among so many strong entries. We had a hard time narrowing it down as the writing seems to be improving each time we make an open call. But in the end we whittled it down to five manuscripts.

And this year’s winner is Late to the Sky by Charlies Cobean and Josephine LoRe! This collaboration of poetry shows the energy created when two poets fuel each other by volleying back and forth with wit, grit, and dynamic language! A sensory overload to say the least. What a joy to read this book and we cannot wait to publish it next summer (August 2026).
